As early as more than 40 years ago, the Japanese government began to promote the revitalization of the elderly and disabled supplies industry in consideration of dealing with the waist injuries of elderly care workers, reducing their labor intensity, and promoting the recovery of the elderly. For this reason, Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare first held the International Welfare Equipment Exhibition (apparatus, appliances, supplies) exhibition in 1974, which has been held for 44 sessions so far. With the rapid expansion of the exhibition's influence worldwide, it was upgraded to an international fair in 1986.

There were 526 exhibitors in the exhibition. More than 79 companies outside Japan from 15 countries including the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, Sweden, Norway, Netherlands, Switzerland, Denmark, Turkey, Australia, United States, Canada, Mexico, South Korea, China (including Taiwan) participated 447 Japanese local companies. In 2017, the total exhibition area was 51,380 square meters, and there were 121,528 professional visitors. It is worthy of being the largest welfare machine and supplies expo in Asia. Since 2013, the attention of Chinese professional visitors to this exhibition has increased sharply, and they have visited the exhibition hall, exchanged experiences, and negotiated purchases and sales agents.
