The German International Automobile and Accessories Exhibition (IAA) is the longest exhibition in Germany. The first IAA was held in Berlin in 1897. In 1947 and 1949, German car and accessory manufacturers participated in the export fair in Hanover. The car showroom attracted the audience like a magnet.

The IAA exhibition was held in Frankfurt for the first time in April 1951, attracting 570,000 visitors. Only 6 months later, it was held again in Berlin, with 290,000 visitors.
